SSCYA was formed in the fall of 2011 by combining resources from the Anderson Union High School, West Valley High School and South Shasta County Children’s Chorus’ respective performing arts booster clubs. Community members, parents of students at the schools and in the chorus and staff at the school agreed that if the three separate groups combined forces, they could work more efficiently together towards their common goals.

In 2012, SSCYA completed our certification as a 501(c)3 non-profit. Our EIN isĀ 45-3674757.

The three groups had worked together in many community projects prior to coming together to form SSCYA. They have put on such musicals as The King and I, Beauty and the Beast and The Wizard of Oz.

They have worked together to put on a free concert showcasing their dance, band and singing talents to celebrate the Centennial Anniversary of Anderson Union High School.

The groups have provided scholarships for students who have participated in the annual Old West shows and who have volunteered to help our children’s chorus. In addition, countless volunteer hours have been given to provide the students with transportation, hotel accommodations, travel itineraries and fundraising opportunities to travel to places such as San Francisco, Disneyland, Palm Springs and Santa Cruz.

SSCYA is vital to helping students in South Shasta County showcase their performing arts talents. We invite you to learn more, to get involved and to let these kids dazzle you at one of their many annual performances!
