Amy Hughes started her Performing Arts career as a child performing in church choirs, junior high choirs, high school choirs and taking private piano lessons. As an adult, she has taught music in many formats including private piano lessons, church choirs for performances at varied venues; venues as large as Arco Arena and as small as a child’s baptism.
Mrs. Hughes’ work with SSCCC began 6 years ago when SSCCC formed. With SSCCC, she has worked as a vocal coach and production manager during the musicals and a choir director during the choir sessions. Her work with AUHS/WVHS students started 8 years ago as children’s choir director during the musical The Music Man.
She has been employed by AUHSD for the past 5 years as a Performing Arts Assistant at Anderson and West Valley High Schools. Her responsibilities include many things; such as coordinating trips, assisting with vocal sectionals, arranging musical contracts and coordinating calendars. It is challenging and always a new adventure. Her favorite part is interacting with the students and helping them realize their incredible potential.
Amy attended Long Beach City College. Her husband Bill and she have been married for almost 30 years and have 7 amazing children together. She enjoys traveling with her family in her spare time.
